An easy open end, shortly called as EOE, is an easy open lid, made of aluminium or tin. This easy open end is used as the lid in metal cans that are used for packing various types of food products. Packaged food had become the latest fashion due to the ease of storing and longer shelf life of the products packed in such metal cans. Vegetables, cereals, milk products, fish, meat, coffee, tea, cocoa, dried milk, nuts, etc. are packed in metal cans. Easy open lids are attached to the top of the can for easy opening of the cans and removal of required quantities of the packed items. Easy open ends of 50 mm and 57 mm are generally meant for juice, beer and kola packing. EOE of 63 mm is used for milk, tuna and crab. Easy open lids of 73 mm, 83 mm and 99 mm are suitable for dry products like coffee, tea and nuts. Aluminium can ends and tinplate ends of 127 mm and 153 mm are ideal for cans that pack juice, fish, meat, etc. In the United States, the easy open ends are manufactured in accordance with the specifications of Patent No. 3853242. The patent describes the easy open end as follows. “A container end panel is formed with a lever member having a first panel piercing portion and a second finger grasping portion and a central portion by which the member is connected to the end. The member is further rotatable in a plane normal to the panel about its connection means with the end panel from a first position whereby one end of the member overlies a weakened line opening to a second position wherein said one member end is forced through the panel to expose the opening formed by the weakened line The member is also rotatable about its connection means with the end panel in a plane parallel to said panel.” At Akvaprofits, our easy open aluminium can ends and tinplate ends are manufactured to stringent standards to ensure very high quality.
