Often when I phone my wife, her first question is "So, where on earth are you today?" This is not as strange as it sounds. My love for traveling posesses me to do it often and sometimes just on a whim. While visiting Perth, Australia over Easter, my family joined me. Together we had a wonderful time visiting the gorgeous beaches and enjoyed the most beautiful weather. We then enjoyed our flight through through Singapore. The airline is lovely as are the people. We then arrived in England. We spent a wonderful week there. It was really fascinating to experience leaving the warm autumn of Perth and arriving into England's spring. The green countryside was quite a vision. I believe the richest dairy products you will ever find (especially the clotted cream) are in Somerset. All of these descriptions are important to convey how much I would have missed had my previous motion sickness held me back. In fact, travel sickness used to be a problem for me as with so many others. I experienced severe headaches, nausea and was exhausted during and following travel. Sadly, a lot of people go through such agony while traveling, they end up practically never leaving the house. When the movement our eyes detect gets out of sync with the body's sense of movement, kinetosis or motion sickness can occur. The brain normally senses movment when our body controls it. Walking is a good example. The balance signals can be difficult to perceive though when something is moving our bodies. This happens when we ride in a car or through other methods of transportation. People have also described motion sickness when they watch intensely active movies or viewed some video games. The messages sent to brain are in conflict as the eyes perceive movement but the body does not. Very painful headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and vertigo can then present themselves. That much discomfort can make traveling very undesirable. When motion comes to an end, some people will find relief shortly after. Others though continue to feel dizzy or nauseated for several hours afterward. Some suggestions for less sever motion sickness are: When riding in a care, sit in the front seat. This allows the brain improve the coordination of visual and perceived motion. Sit next to the window when riding on a plane and look outside. Avoid sitting in seats which face the rear. Do not read or work on the computer when riding. Stay away from greasy or rich foods before you take your trip. For long lasting results I suggest my all natural Dizziness and Vertigo program.
