Rome: Roma Wine Festival from 9th to 10th of May 2009

No wonder that in Italy the culture of wine is widespread not only among professionals working in this field, but also among simple consumers, and that wine is considered not only as a drink, but also as an important feature of Italy’s culture and tradition. Moreover the figures for the export of Italian wine confirm that it is considered as an important heritage also abroad, and in order to have an adequate knowledge of the world of wine Italian wine cannot be disregarded.

To make all Italian and foreign wine lovers happy, and to showcase the best of Italian production, on the 8th and 9th of May Rome hosts the second edition of the Roma Wine Festival, a real celebration of wine, which in the past edition attracted over 7000 visitors (many of them stayed in the 3 star hotels in Rome), going beyond the most optimistic expectations.

The event attracts experts, wine producers coming from all Italian regions (last year 84 producers took part in the festival, and over 350 labels were presented), buyers but also simple wine lovers, and it can be considered as an important chance to promote and sell Italian wine in Italy and abroad, but also as a great opportunity for wine lovers to discover and learn to appreciate and taste some of the most prestigious Italian wines. If on the one hand producers will have the opportunity to present their wines in an international and prestigious showcase, making the public discover their products and entering into new business relationships, on the other hand the wine lovers who will stay in a budget camping in Rome will have the possibility to learn something more about the best wine taking part in one of the following tasting routes: the tasting of the best Italian wines selected by Gambero Rosso, a landmark for wine lovers, the tasting grand tour of Italian wine, which will give participants the possibility to learn something more not only about wine, but also about the region where it was produced, and the guided tasting of the Teatro della Cucina, which focuses on excellent Italian wine.

The Roma Wine Festival is also intended to bestow a concrete recognition to outstanding professionals who have contributed to make Italian wine famous and appreciated all around the world. For this reason some prizes will be awarded during the festival: the RWF Label Award for the most original and innovative label, the RWF Award for the safeguard of the autochthonous vines, the RWF Social Award for the best wine museum, and the RWF Award for the best wine road.
